Photohydroionization™ (PHI) Technology |
|
The PureAir PHI™ by Zico is designed by RGF Environmental Group to eliminate sick building syndrome risk by reducing the air pollutants such as Bacteria, Mold, Viruses, Smoke, Odors and VOC's. The PureAir PHI™ cells are easily mounted into the air conditioning and heating systems air ducts, where most sick building problems initiate. When the HVAC system is in operation, the PureAir PHI™ cell creates an Advanced Oxidation Reaction, with the UV lamp enhanced on the quad metallic compound target. This reaction produces friendly oxidizers such as Hydro-Peroxides, Superoxide Ions and Hydroxide Ions. By friendly oxidizers we mean oxidizers which revert back to oxygen and hydrogen after oxidizing the pollutant. This entire process is known as Advanced Oxidation Process. |

Why Use PureAir Photohydroionization™ Technology ? |
|
Germicidal UV light rays have been used for decades by the medical industry as a method for destroying micro-organisms (germs, viruses, bacteria). However, the germicidal UV light is not effective in reducing airborne micro organisms in the moving airstream as typical UV lights do not provide enough UV energy to inactivate the airborne microbes within the available contact time. Germicidal UV lights also have little to not affect on gases, VOC’s or odors. On the other hand, Photohydroionization™ Advanced Oxidation Process is very effective on gases (VOC’s and odors)as well as the airborne microbes that are found traveling throughout the HVAC system and rooms. While UV systems are designed to kill mold on the HVAC coil, the PureAir PHI™ cell does this, and it also adds advanced oxidants throughout the room to kill microbial at the source. By engineering the proper UV light wavelength, in combination with a triple function and no maintenance unit, the PureAir PHI™ Cell provides safe Advanced oxidation Process to purify the air.
With the PureAir, PHI™ Cell Advanced Oxidation System micro-organisms can be reduced up to 95%. Gases (VOCs and odors) can also be reduced significantly, and the room will contain oxidizers which will help to give it fresh clean and odor free air. |

Sneeze Test - RGF PHI™ |
|
A testing protocol concept was used which included a “Sneeze simulation Machine” and “Sneeze” chamber. A sneeze can travel up to 100 mph, therefore lung capacity, sneeze pressure, and liquid volume had to be monitored to properly simulate a human sneeze. This was accomplished and the test proceeded with outstanding results. An average of 78% reduction of microbials was achieved with PHI™ in a double blind test, at 3 feet from the sneeze source. This is clearly not a medically supervised test or protocol. However, from a practical point, it was definitely providing some kill at the source and will provide some level of protection. |
Note : Simulated Sneeze Lab Test at three feet in a 250 cu ft Bio Test Chamber. An independent PE double blind study. |

The PHI™ unit size is scaled to accommodate the various air flow rates of different HVAC systems. So, locate the air blower size in cubic feet per minute (CFM) of the HVAC system that is intended to be installed in the system, and then pick the model number that corresponds to that flow rate.
Note: It is recommended these units be installed by a licensed electrician. |
